Great day at the races

 

Springbank Sam co owner Denise and Peter, VC Valentine co owner. Both horses went well at the races today and in the money so out for a meal to celebrate.

Shattered

Strong nor west winds blew the door shut and shattered the glass making an interesting pattern.

Mural

Local kids where given the task to create this mural on the side of a building depicting Mid Canterbury

Liz

Liz our friendly fun loving bar person at the golf club.  She also makes awesome food for hungry golfers.  By the look of the chiller there must have been some thirsty golfers to day as well.

Friday Bubbles

Not this Friday but a couple of Fridays ago. A glass of bubbly to celebrate the start of the Rail Trail.

Even though I haven't got any swan plants I still have Monarch Butterfly's as they seem to like the red dahlia's.

Seems to be a lot of white butterfly around at the moment.  Sandy is doing his best to keep the numbers down.

Not much of a day so am catching up on some office work and sorting photos.

Shocks

Back home with a very dirty bike and you can tell the shock absorbers have been working. Wet miserable day so having a day off from riding!

Packed up and ready to hit the road home. Jan did a wonderful job driving for us during the trip and we had a lot of laughs. Stayed  last night in the old Stanley's Hotel at Macraes Flat.

We knocked the bastard off!

Rode from Ranfurly to Hyde where we going to finish for the day but after having lunch decided to carry on to Middlemarch to the finish. 60 ks for the day to knock the bastard off! Another goal achieved for the year. Bit stiff in the neck and shoulders but as luck would have it when we were having well earned refreshments with some other cyclist's we discovered that they were masseuses, so for a bottle of wine Sue & I received a great massage

Fire!

 

Arrived in Ranfurly to find that the garage next door to our pub has burnt down in the early hours this morning.

Long slog.

Long slog up the Poolburn gourge. Still some way to go.

Saw this Puke with its baby, but by the time I got the camera out baby was gone and Mum was showing her displeasure by flicking her tail and showing her white bum feathers.

Trials day and the chief time keeper is on the jub.

Sues bike

Only a couple of days to go before we head off to Otago to bike the rail trail. Took Sue's bike to the bike shop this morning to make sure its in tip top condition

Sandy & Frodo are mates now and enjoy harassing and chasing each other.Cant tell from this photo but Sandy is about 3 times bigger than Frodo.
