Parked up for winter

Don't think this irrigator will be needed again for a while. Looks like it wasn't only rain we've been having this past week.  Ski field operators are happy with Mt Hutt opening this weekend.

Walking

Sue & I went for a BIG walk  yesterday to blow away the cobwebs of being stuck inside for the past week and got soaked.  No rain today so it was a pleasure to get out to make up for no golf this weekend.

Closed

 After a week of steady rain the golf course is too soggy to play on. Still very cold and wet so inside by the fire is not a bad option.

Winter

Winter is well and truly here.  Went to have a coffee with Marilyn and this is the temp when I came back through town at 4.30.

Couped up

Been raining steadily since Monday and the boys are getting a bit stir crazy.

Visitors from Finland

Heikki & Kija have been traveling Australia for the last 10 months and are now in NZ for a month before heading home to Finland for their summer.

Who Did It?

Liz couldn't find her favorite chopping board then discovered it had been chopped up and used to build up the hot water urns. Shes not happy!

Pennants

Played Pennants at Gleniti in Timaru today, very up and down course not like we are used to.  Team got thrashed but after meeting up with the other Tinwald team at the Tavern on the way home we were all feeling a lot better about ourselves!

Frost & Snow

Pulled back the curtains this morning and this was the view. Frost on the roofs and fresh snow on the hills.

All Set

All set for a big night tomorrow night.  Golden Oldies team and hangers on are down for the night tomorrow so we are all set to feed and entertain them.

Budget

 

 Bill English delivered his budget today.  Nothing to exciting.  Apart from  fiddling with figures as usual.

Going Home

Headed over to Motukarara to watch Fiery Del at the trials today. Nearly there when we spotted Laurence's truck coming home so we turned around and did the same. Apparently the trials were called off at 7.30 this morning because of track conditions. Lack of communication somewhere!

Ashburton races at Addington today. Number 6 could be a good bet do you think Wendy?

Papers

Wet miserable day again so Russell got stuck in and read all the weekends papers.

Rainy Sunday

To wet for golf so Sue & I went out for a coffee to discuss how to spend the rest of day.

Right at Home

Couple of dogs, golf clubs and sky TV.  Park up in the golf clubs car park and you're right at home.

Doaky to the rescue

Able to shower at home again now that we have a new hot water cylinder.

Methven

 

Played in the Methven Womens tournament today. After a pretty dismal start weather wise it turned out to be a cracker. My golf also started out dismally and stayed that way! The course was beautifully groomed so no excuses there.

Ducks

Duck shooting season so all the ducks head for the safety of the Domain ponds.

Trouble Here

Our hot water cylinder has been dripping brown water for a while but it wasn't until it finally made it through the ceiling and down the wall into laundry did we know.  A lot of mopping up. Cylinder now drained and waiting for a new one.  No hot water for a day or two so we are scrounging showers off friends!

WOF

 Just as well my cars dirty otherwise it would really clash with the building. 

Church

Brethren Church on the corner without windows and the gate is locked once they are in there.Is that Anna's car in the corner?

Ticket or the balls

You get a lot of days at golf where nothing goes right. But to day I struck one where I couldn't do anything wrong and won with a Net 66. (Sorry Barb). Have the choice of 2 golf balls or bar tickets, I took the tickets!

Hair cut

Its that time again. Only 4 more cuts before we are off!

Parking

Looks like Council is getting tough about parking on expired meters.

Oysters

One of the nice things about Southland is its produce that Russell brought home.  

Blue cod and whitebait as well.

Jacks Place

Russell took his mate Jack down south with him to the races in the weekend and dropped him off at his batch at Moeraki on the way home.  Not a bad looking place Jack.

Gipsy Fair

The Gypsies are in town selling their wares including magic oil to rub on your money to make it treble in value!
