Coal Mine Disaster

Drilling a hole down to the Pike River Coal mine for air samples. Unfortunately a 2nd explosion in the mine today has destroyed all hopes that any of the 29 trapped miners will have survived. A devastating time for the people of the West Coast & for the miners families.

Jo and I are playing in the 2 day tournament at Methven.  Misty rain today with heavier rain forecast for tomorrow. One of our 4 wasn't very up with course etiquette & as seen above she even walked off with her noisy cart behind  Jo while she was playing her shot into the green. We had a net 61 so hope we can keep it together for tomorrows round!

Gin

You have a gin shot you shout your playing partners a compulsory gin.  Best attack is strait down - then shudder! No it wasn't me. One person has been known to collapse on the fairway when witnessing one of these shots just at the thought of what was to come.  Others have questioned the number hoping there had been more of them!

Sue & I decided to try out the new cycle track to lake Hood . Its great, we did a total of 30kms. Not a bad way to spend a Sunday afternoon.

Terrace Downs

Fabulous evening at Terrace Downs last night. 200 guests at a corporate do we were hired to photograph. Too many for the club house so they did up the implement shed very nicely for the meal after drinks on the deck.  Even had shuttle service to the club house for those who didn't want to use the porta loos!
